Welcome to Salem Woods from the Salem Woods Civic Association (SWCA) Board of Directors and community. R.G. Moore built Salem Woods in the late 1970s and early 1980s. SWCA was officially formed on November 8, 1983.
We work hard to encourage kindness and community activities. We are not a homeowners association (HOA) with mandatory fees; we are a non-profit organization (501(c)(7)). Our activities rely on voluntary membership each year. Being a member gives you a say in important decisions for our community.
Every household in Salem Woods is part of SWCA. Those who pay annual dues are considered “members in good standing” or Active Members. Active membership helps create a friendly atmosphere, enhances security, and keeps everyone informed. Active Members can vote on important issues like Board Directors and policy changes.
Membership also provides the money needed to run our civic association. SWCA offers benefits like community events, social gatherings, information sharing, voting rights, and access to the Board of Directors. More importantly, joining the association supports the idea of civic virtue. This means promoting good behavior and principles that help our community thrive. We welcome your ideas and feedback. Our website is new (JAN 2025) and is regularly updated; soon you will find important documents there. You can also follow us on Facebook for Active Members and on Nextdoor.com for discussions and local ads.
